"K.C. UNDERCOVER," STARRING ZENDAYA, PREMIERES BIG
ON DISNEY CHANNEL AFTER STRONG WATCH DISNEY CHANNEL APP DEBUT;
SACKS COMPETITION, IS #1 CABLE TV TELECAST, YEAR TO-DATE
AMONG KIDS 2-11, 6-11 AND TWEENS
Disney Channel's premiere (Sunday, January 18, 8:30-9:00 p.m.) of the spy comedy series "K.C. Undercover" starring Zendaya, delivered 3.5-million Total Viewers and became the #1 top cable TV telecast of the year among major youth demographics: Kids 2-11 (1.7 million/4.5 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.4 million/6.1 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.4 million/5.9 rating). Benchmarked across all TV, it's also the year's #1 telecast among Girls 6-11.
The "K.C. Undercover" premiere sacked Nickelodeon's "Bella and the Bulldogs" series premiere (Saturday, January 17) by solid double digits: +13% in Kids 2-11 (1.7 million vs. 1.5 million), +17% in Kids 6-11 (1.4 million vs. 1.2 million) and +48% in Tweens (1.4 million vs. 949,000).
Since January 1, the premiere episode delivered close to 400,000 unique users and 800,000 video starts on WATCH Disney Channel, the application which allows users to watch via their desktop, mobile and connected TV devices.
"K.C. Undercover" was also the #1 most social Children & Family series and the #2 most social comedy series on Sunday (Source: Nielsen, 1/18/15, Children & Family Series and Comedy Series, ranked by Unique Authors or Tweets).
Zendaya stars as K.C. Cooper, a high school math whiz and karate black-belt who learns that her parents are spies when they recruit her to join them in the secret government agency, The Organization. While she now has the latest spy gadgets at her disposal, K.C. has a lot to learn about being a spy, including keeping her new gig a secret from her best friend, Marisa. Together, K.C. and her parents, Craig and Kira, and her younger siblings, Ernie and Judy (a humanoid robot), try to balance everyday family life while on undercover missions, near and far, to save the world. Also starring are: Kadeem Hardison ("Static Shock," "A Different World"), Tammy Townsend ("The Client List"), Kamil McFadden, Trinitee Stokes and Veronica Dunne.
"K.C. Undercover" was created by Corinne Marshall ("Surviving Jack," "Suburgatory") and is executive-produced by Rob Lotterstein ("Shake It Up").
