"48 HOURS: COLD CASE: WHO KILLED AMY GELLERT?" IS SATURDAY'S #1 BROADCAST WITH VIEWERS

48 HOURS: "Cold Case: Who Killed Amy Gellert?" was Saturday's #1 broadcast with viewers according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for March 14.

48 HOURS (10:08-11:08 PM) was first in viewers with an audience of 4.57 million and first with adults 25-54 (1.1/03, tied with NBC), the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news.

Saturday's broadcast featured the launch of 48 HOURS: COLD CASE, a new short-run series focusing on long-unsolved murders. The first broadcast in the new franchise focused on Erin Moriarty and 48 HOURS' investigation into the 1994 murder of Amy Gellert, who was just 21 when she interrupted an intruder holding her parents hostage in their Florida home. Startled by the headlights of Gellert's car outside, the masked man brutally stabbed Gellert's mother, Charlotte "Bunny" Lehton, and stepfather, Robert Lehton. The man fled, where he encountered Gellert in the driveway. She never made it inside. Gellert's parents survived - she didn't. The killer was never caught.

The broadcast has generated more than 100 e-mails and calls, according to Major Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. "The story has generated a lot of interest in this case. Much of it is in reference to the knife and or gun, however there has been some new information received that was not provided previously," Goodyear told 48 HOURS: COLD CASE, adding "we are very appreciative of the response from the viewers and hopeful that this cooperative effort may lead to bringing a successful conclusion to this case and closure for the family."

48 HOURS: COLD CASE: "Who Killed Amy Gellert" is produced by Lisa Freed. Alicia Tejada is the field producer. Gregory F. McLaughlin is the producer editor. Phil Tangel is the editor. Judy Tygard is the senior producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
