Monday's Broadcast Ratings: NCAA Championship Pushes CBS to Top Spot

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/6/15):

CBS (18.008 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.6, #1) pulled into the top spot on Monday with its coverage of the "NCAA Men's Basketball Championship" (22.614 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 7.2, #1). Kicking off the night was a repeat of "Mike & Molly" (9.940 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.4, #3) and the pre-game "Championship Central" (7.652 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.3, #4).

NBC (9.048 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2) then had to settle for the silver with its duo of "The Voice" (10.720 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.9, #2) and "The Night Shift" (5.706 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #6).

Next up was ABC (10.925 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) and a new "Dancing with the Stars" (13.504 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #5) alongside a repeat "Castle" (5.767 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #8).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.432 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up a repeat "Gotham" (1.991 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) and a new "The Following" (2.874 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #7).

And finally, the return of "The Originals" (1.112 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) and "Jane the Virgin" (0.931 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #11) on The CW (1.021 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.4 rating while the latter posted a 0.5 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.5/3 with an encore delayed by a basketball overrun; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with James Corden" (1.1/5 delayed by a basketball overrun). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/3 delayed by a basketball overrun).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

CBS (14.610 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.9, #1) was the network to beat on Monday thanks to its coverage of the "NCAA Men's Basketball Championship" (17.794 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 6.0, #1). Leading off the night were a repeat of "The Big Bang Theory" (9.850 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.0, #3) and the "Capital One Championship Central" (6.632 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T4) pre-game.

NBC (9.662 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.8, #2) then had to settle for second place with a new "The Voice" (11.759 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 3.4, #2) and special edition of "American Dream Builders" (5.468 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T6).

Next up was ABC (12.107 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) with a new "Dancing with the Stars" (13.872 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T4) and a repeat "Castle" (8.576 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #9).

Meanwhile, FOX (5.466 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4) served up originals from "Bones" (6.482 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T6) and "The Following" (4.449 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #8).

And finally, a new "Star-Crossed" (0.966 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10) plus a repeat "The Tomorrow People" (0.618 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #11) on The CW (0.792 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Star-Crossed" delivered a 0.3 rating while "People" posted a 0.1 rating.
