Monday's Broadcast Ratings: "American Ninja Warrior" Rises to Top Spot for NBC

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (7/20/15):

NBC (5.517 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) rose to the top demo spot on Monday with new episodes of "American Ninja Warrior" (6.525 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (3.501 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3).

ABC (5.760 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then was a close second with originals from "The Bachelorette" (6.925 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) and "The Whispers" (3.429 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5).

Next up was FOX (3.154 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and a new "So You Think You Can Dance" (3.154 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4).

Meanwhile, CBS (4.944 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up repeats of "2 Broke Girls" (4.662 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #7), "Mike & Molly" (4.787 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "Scorpion" (4.295 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (5.814 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8).

And finally, new episodes of "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.835 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #10), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.386 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #11) and "Cedric's Barber Battle" (0.783 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #12) on The CW (1.460 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.5, 0.4 and a 0.2 rating, respectively.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.0/5; "CBS Summer Showcase," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 with an encore in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/21/14):

FOX (4.925 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) was still the network to beat on Monday with a new "MasterChef" (5.811 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) and the return of "Hotel Hell" (4.039 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4).

ABC (5.735 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then claimed the silver with originals from "The Bachelorette" (6.804 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) and "Mistresses" (3.598 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6).

Next up was NBC (4.907 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) with an encore of "Last Comic Standing" (3.156 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #11) and a new "American Ninja Warrior" (5.783 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2).

Meanwhile, CBS (5.121 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) offered up repeats of "2 Broke Girls" (4.290 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6), "Mom" (3.869 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10), "Mike & Molly" (4.656 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6) and "Two and a Half Men" (4.475 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6) plus a new "Under the Dome" (6.717 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4).

And finally, The CW (1.088 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night with its revised lineup of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.789 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12), another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.664 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12), "Seed" (0.489 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #14) and "Backpackers" (0.410 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said quartet posted 0.4, 0.4, 0.2 and 0.2 rating, respectively.
