NBC TIES FOR #1 WEDNEDAY NIGHT AS 'TALENT' MATCHES AN NBC SLOT HIGH SINCE APRIL, 'LAST COMIC' WINS AT 10
Wednesday Results:
Boosted by the series debut of "The Carmichael Show," NBC tied for the Wednesday win in adults 18-49.
· "The Carmichael Show" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) scored as the most-watched summer-comedy debut on the Big 4 since 2007 (6.191 million for "Creature Comforts" on CBS June 4, 2007), a span covering 12 summer-comedy launches.
· In adult 18-49 rating, its 1.1 keeps "Carmichael" within 0.1 of NBC's strong Aug. 5 debut of "Mr. Robinson," which was the #2 highest-rated summer comedy debut on the Big 4 since 2009 (1.6 for "The Goode Family"), a span covering 11 summer-comedy launches. The only other higher-rated summer-comedy debut on the Big 4 over that span in 18-49 is "Undateable" (1.3 on May 29, 2014).
· "The Carmichael Show" won the time period among the Big 4 in adults 18-49 and other key demos, facing original competition in the slot from CBS's "Extant" and Fox's "Home Free," as well as ABC's "Modern Family" encore
· A second episode of "The Carmichael Show" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) retained 82% of the prior half-hour's strong series premiere rating in 18-49 and held onto 88% men 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.8) and 91% in men 25-54 (1.0 vs. 1.1).
· The 9:30 "Carmichael Show" tied for #1 in the time period among the Big 4 in adults, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 25-54.
· The 9:30 "Carmichael Show" finished within 0.1 of the strong Aug. 5 9:30 debut of "Mr. Robinson" (0.9 vs. 1.0) and was up +10% in total viewers (4.101 million vs. 3.745 million).
· "Last Comic Standing" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and ranks #1 or tied for #1 in every key demo. "Last Comic Standing" retained 100% of last week's 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 1.1) and grew +2% in total viewers (4.295 million vs. 4.203 million).
· Despite the 10 p.m. hour, "Last Comic Standing"maintained its rating half-hour to half-hour in all key demos.
· "America's Got Talent" (1.6/6 in 18-49, 8.2 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) matched NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since April 8, when a special "Voice" averaged a 2.2. "America's Got Talent" maintained 100% of last week's adult 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.6).
· "America's Got Talent" won the hour in total viewers.
In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday Night:
· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.3/6 with an encore telecast; "CBS Summer Showcase," 1.6/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.1/6.
· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4 with an encore; "CBS Summer Showcase," 0.3/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/4.
· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.4/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.8/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).
· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 with an encore in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
