Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Empire" Continues Its Reign for FOX

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/7/15):

FOX (9.337 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1) was of course the network to beat on Wednesday with new episodes of "Rosewood" (5.686 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T7) and juggernaut "Empire" (12.988 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.0, #1).

ABC (6.069 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then claimed the silver with originals from "The Middle" (7.220 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T5), "The Goldbergs" (6.581 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3), "Modern Family" (7.882 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.7, #2), "Black-ish" (5.892 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T5) and "Nashville" (4.421 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T11).

Next up was CBS (8.234 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) with fresh installments from "Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance" (8.954 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #4), "Criminal Minds" (8.938 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T7) and "Code Black" (6.810 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T11).

Meanwhile, NBC (6.862 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) offered up new episodes of "The Mysteries of Laura" (7.108 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T11), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (7.002 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9) and "Chicago PD" (6.477 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9).

And finally, the return of "Arrow" (2.622 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T11) and "Supernatural" (1.994 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.9, #15) on The CW (2.308 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) closed out the evening.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.0/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

ABC (7.216 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) pulled into the top spot on Wednesday thanks to new episodes of "The Middle" (7.347 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.0, #6), "The Goldbergs" (6.966 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.2, #5), "Modern Family" (10.072 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1), "Black-ish" (7.950 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.8, #2) and "Nashville" (5.482 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9).

CBS (9.381 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) then was a close second with originals from "Survivor: San Juan del Sur" (9.525 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.5, #3), "Criminal Minds" (10.492 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #4) and "Stalker" (8.128 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T7).

Next up was NBC (7.624 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) with fresh installments of "The Mysteries of Laura" (8.535 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #12), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (7.648 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T7) and "Chicago PD" (6.689 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.333 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up new episodes of "Hell's Kitchen" (3.774 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.4, #11) and "Red Band Society" (2.893 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #14).

And finally, the return of "Arrow" (2.789 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #13) and a rebroadcast of "The Flash" (2.093 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #15) closed out the night on The CW (2.441 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.8 rating while the latter posted a 0.6 rating.
