"DATELINE MYSTERY" HITS A SEASON HIGH IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND MATCHES ITS HIGH IN 18-49 AND 25-54
IN THE METERED MARKETS, "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" IS THE #1 TELECAST OF THE NIGHT
Saturday Primetime Ratings:
NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in primetime Saturday night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.
"Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET):
· Ties as the #1 primetime show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 (with CBS's "48 Hours," 0.9 each in 18-49, 1.3 each in 25-54).
· Is the #1 show outright among those nets in primetime in total viewers.
· Delivers its most-watched episode of the season and equals its season highs in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 (1.3).
· Grows +13% versus last week in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.8) and +4% in total viewers (5.133 million vs. 4.953 million).
· Wins the time period among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and all key adult-female measures.
· Increases by +43% from its first half-hour to its fourth in adults 18-49 (from a 0.7 rating to a 1.0), by +60% in adults 25-54 (1.0 to 1.6) and by +34% or 1.5 million persons in total viewers (4.3 million to 5.8 million).
"SNL Vintage" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET, with an encore of the Nov. 16, 1996 telecast of "Saturday Night Live" hosted by Robert Downey Jr. with musical guest Fiona Apple):
· Retains 100% week to week in 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.8) and grows +10% in total viewers (3.222 million vs. 2.929 million).
· Is close to rounding up to a 0.9 in 18-49 (currently reporting a 0.849 in these prelim fast-affiliate ratings).
· Delivers the most-watched "SNL" rebroadcast in this slot since Nov. 7 (with host Buck Henry and musical guest The Band from Oct. 30, 1976, 3.6 million).
Note that NBC and other networks carried some local basketball coverage. Additionally, CBS and Fox college-basketball coverage ran over into primetime in the Eastern U.S. for 14 minutes on CBS and 13 minutes on Fox.
In Late-Night Metered-Market Household Averages for Saturday Night:
· The March 12 telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host and musical guest Ariana Grande, averaged a 4.0 rating, 10 share in household results from the 56 markets metered-by Nielsen Media Research and a 1.9/10 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
· "Saturday Night Live" is the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in both metered-market households and in 18-49 in the local people meters, outrating all primetime programming on those networks in both categories.
· "Saturday Night Live" grew +3% versus the show's average for originals in the month of March last year in metered-market households (4.0 vs 3.9 for March 2015).
· Note that "SNL" adds significant viewership via time-shifting, with originals growing by +48% going from L+SD to L+7 in adults 18-49 (1.98 to 2.94) and +2.260 million persons in total viewers (6.509 million to 8.769 million).
