Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Night with "Thursday Night Football"

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/22/16):

NBC (12.555 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.3, #1) was the network to beat once again on Thursday with its coverage of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (9.347 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2) and "Thursday Night Football" (13.196 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.5, #1).

ABC (4.437 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then was the silver draw with a repeat "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (5.483 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3) followed by a new "The Great Holiday Baking Show" (4.053 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) and a second "The Great Holiday Baking Show" (3.775 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

Next up was CBS (4.839 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its repeat mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.869 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3), "The Great Indoors" (4.890 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "Mom" (4.998 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "Life in Pieces" (4.418 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), another "Life in Pieces" (3.593 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #10) and yet another "Life in Pieces" (3.267 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #11).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.898 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) likewise opted for second runs of "Hell's Kitchen" (1.931 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12) and another "Hell's Kitchen" (1.866 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12).

And finally, night three of "Terry Crews Saves Christmas" (0.822 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and a repeat "Supernatural" (0.664 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) closed out the night on The CW (0.743 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," a 3.1 rating, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 1.8/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.4, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," a 1.4 rating in metered-market households, delayed by an NFL overrun; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.9/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.7 in 18-49, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1 with an encore

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly," with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun, averaged a 0.9 rating in metered-market households and a 0.4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/24/15):

NBC (3.807 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1) was the top draw on Christmas Eve with its annual rebroadcast of "It's a Wonderful Life" (3.807 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3).

CBS (3.764 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) then was a close second with repeats of "The Big Bang Theory" (5.912 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1), "Life in Pieces" (4.276 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3), "Mom" (3.882 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3), "2 Broke Girls" (3.152 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #6) and "Elementary" (2.683 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8).

Next up was ABC (3.075 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) with encores of "It's Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown" (4.150 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2), "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (2.787 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.6, #7) and "The Great Christmas Light Fight" (2.289 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.278 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) offered up a rebroadcast of "TV's Funniest Animated Stars: A Paley Center for Media Special" (1.278 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #10).

And finally, repeats of "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" (0.897 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"
