Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Wins Demo Race, CBS Tops Viewers

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/3/17):

NBC (7.374 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) took home the demo crown on Tuesday with its mix of "The Wall" (6.768 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), "Chicago Fire" (7.569 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T5) and "Chicago PD" (7.785 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2).

CBS (12.127 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then was a close second with its trio of "NCIS" (15.591 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1), "Bull" (11.253 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #7) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (9.537 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #10).

Next up was ABC (4.050 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its quartet of "The Middle" (6.555 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), "American Housewife" (5.582 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T5), "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.383 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #8) and "The Real O'Neals" (3.321 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #12) plus a repeat of "David Blaine: Beyond Magic (Repeat)" (2.229 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.170 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) offered up its new Tuesday lineup of "New Girl" (2.495 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #11), "The Mick" (3.331 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #9) and "Bones" (3.427 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13).

And finally, a repeat "The Flash" (0.997 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) and a new "No Tomorrow" (0.529 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #16) closed out the night for The CW (0.763 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.3/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/5/16):

CBS (14.376 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) was the top draw on Tuesday with new episodes of "NCIS" (18.723 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1), "NCIS: New Orleans" (17.003 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2) and "Limitless" (7.402 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T5).

NBC (6.730 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then claimed the silver with the return of "Hollywood Game Night" (4.387 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T7) followed by its crossover between "Chicago Fire" (7.422 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4) and "Chicago Med" (8.382 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #3).

Next up was FOX (2.806 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its new lineup of "New Girl" (3.348 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T5), "Grandfathered" (3.018 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (2.720 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T7) and "The Grinder" (2.140 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T12).
