Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Holds Off Demo Competition

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (2/22/17):

ABC (5.121 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) won the demo race on Wednesday with new episodes of "The Goldbergs" (6.153 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2), "Speechless" (5.291 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4), "Modern Family" (6.692 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "Black-ish" (5.366 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) plus the winter finale of "Match Game" (3.613 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #11).

FOX (5.050 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was a competitive second with originals from "Lethal Weapon" (6.171 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5) and "Star" (3.929 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9).

Next up was NBC (5.428 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its trio of "Blindspot" (4.122 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.656 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5) and "Chicago PD" (6.508 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5).

Meanwhile, CBS (5.420 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) offered up new episodes from "Hunted" (5.087 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9), "Criminal Minds" (7.163 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5) and "Doubt" (4.012 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13).

And finally, fresh installments of "Arrow" (1.538 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) and "The 100" (1.004 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.4, #15) on The CW (1.271 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.3/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (2/24/16):

CBS (8.105 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T1) was the most-watched network on Wednesday with its mix of "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" (8.596 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3), "Criminal Minds" (8.810 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #7) and the season finale of "Code Black" (6.910 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #11).
