Monday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Opens Season on Top in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/25/17):

CBS (10.413 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) kicked off the 2017-18 season on top with the openers to "The Big Bang Theory" (16.965 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.9, #1), "Young Sheldon" (16.572 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.7, #2), "Kevin Can Wait" (10.099 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.3, #5), "Me, Myself & I" (7.392 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #6) and "Scorpion" (5.726 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9).

NBC (8.969 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2) then was a close second with the return of "The Voice" (10.368 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.6, #3) followed by the launch of "The Brave" (6.171 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #8).

Next up was ABC (9.987 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) with a new "Dancing with the Stars" (9.072 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #7) and the premiere of "The Good Doctor" (11.818 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #4).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.937 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up the season finale of "So You Think You Can Dance" (1.937 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #10).

And finally, a repeat "Supergirl" (0.885 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) and a special "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.936 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) rounded out the night on The CW (0.910 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.4/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (9/26/16):

NBC (14.433 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.4, #1) was still the network to beat on Monday with its mix of "The Voice" (12.142 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 3.3, #4), "The First Presidential Debate" (16.604 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.4, #1) and "The First Presidential Debate - Analysis" (12.500 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 3.9, #2).

CBS (10.978 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.8, #2) then took home the silver with week two of "The Big Bang Theory" (14.092 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.5, #3) and "Kevin Can Wait" (10.940 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.7, #7) plus "The First Presidential Debate" (10.996 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.8, #6) and "The First Presidential Debate - Analysis" (7.845 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 2.0, #10).

Next up with the bronze was ABC (11.319 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.5, #3) and "Dancing with the Stars" (10.737 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.8, #11), "The First Presidential Debate" (12.459 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.2, #5) and "The First Presidential Debate - Analysis" (9.067 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.3, #8).

Meanwhile, FOX (4.621 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4) offered up "Gotham" (3.681 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.2, #12) and "The First Presidential Debate" (5.248 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 2.2, #9).

And finally, repeats of "Supergirl" (1.004 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T13) and another "Supergirl" (1.078 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T13) closed out the night on The CW (1.041 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).
