Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS, "Thursday Night Football" Continue Their Reign

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/12/17):

CBS (10.028 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1) continued its NFL-powered reign on Thursday with "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (7.922 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #3) and "Thursday Night Football" (10.449 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.1, #1).

ABC (5.623 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then took home the silver with its drama trio "Grey's Anatomy" (7.954 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2), "Scandal" (5.054 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (3.862 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

Next up was NBC (5.192 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) with originals from "Superstore" (4.277 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7), "The Good Place" (3.978 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "Will & Grace" (6.593 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4), "Good News" (4.277 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) and "Chicago Fire" (6.013 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.036 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up fresh installments from "Gotham" (2.693 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12) and "The Orville" (3.380 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

And finally, the return of "Supernatural" (2.100 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13) and "Arrow" (1.566 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.6, #14) on The CW (1.833 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 ratings were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3; "Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (10/13/16):

CBS (9.822 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1) held off the competition on Thursday with its weekly coverage of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (8.523 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2) and "Thursday Night Football" (10.082 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1).

ABC (5.231 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then took home the silver with its trio of "Grey's Anatomy" (7.691 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3), "Notorious" (3.992 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #9) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (4.010 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7).

Next up was NBC (5.632 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its mix of "Superstore" (4.391 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "The Good Place" (4.217 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "Chicago Med" (6.739 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) and "The Blacklist" (5.853 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.206 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) offered up originals of "Rosewood" (3.482 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10) and "Pitch" (2.930 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

And finally, The CW (2.011 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) closed out the night with the season premieres of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.841 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13) and "Supernatural" (2.181 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).
