Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: "Big Bang Theory" Gives CBS a Boost

Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (11/2/17):

CBS (9.945 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday thanks to a relocated "The Big Bang Theory" (14.133 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) followed by the formal premieres of "Young Sheldon" (13.290 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2), "Mom" (9.605 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T3), "Life in Pieces" (7.697 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T5) and "SWAT" (7.473 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #7).

Second place then went to ABC (5.297 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) and its trio of "Grey's Anatomy" (7.342 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T3), "Scandal" (4.928 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (3.623 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T13).

Next up was NBC (4.405 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with its fall finales to "Superstore" (3.511 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), "The Good Place" (3.039 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), "Will & Grace" (5.596 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T5), "Good News" (2.726 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #15) and "Chicago Fire" (5.778 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.240 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up originals to "Gotham" (2.716 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T13) and "The Orville" (3.764 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

And finally, The CW (1.585 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) closed out the night with "Supernatural" (1.819 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.6, #16) and "Arrow" (1.352 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.5, #17).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (11/3/16):

CBS (7.657 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) was the top draw on a competitive Thursday with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (13.933 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1), "The Great Indoors" (8.303 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3), "Mom" (7.025 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6), "Life in Pieces" (5.962 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6) and "Pure Genius" (5.360 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11).
