Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Empire" Rises in FOX's Latest Demo Victory

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/11/18):

FOX (5.043 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was still the demo champ on Wednesday thanks to new episodes of "Empire" (5.795 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) and "Star" (4.290 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4).

The silver then went to CBS (6.452 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) with originals from "Survivor: Ghost Island" (7.915 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2), "SEAL Team" (6.294 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) and "Criminal Minds" (5.147 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

Next up was NBC (5.448 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and fresh installments from "The Blacklist" (5.103 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.399 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6) and "Chicago PD" (5.843 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6).

Meanwhile, ABC (4.062 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) served up its mix of "The Goldbergs" (5.203 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #5), "Alex, Inc." (3.561 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10), "Modern Family" (4.922 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3), "American Housewife" (3.964 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6) and "Designated Survivor" (3.361 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13).

And finally, the special "Harry Potter: A History of Magic" (1.309 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) and a repeat "Masters of Illusion" (1.060 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) on The CW (1.247 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) rounded out the night.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/12/17):

FOX (5.099 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the top adults 18-49 draw on Wednesday with new episodes from "Shots Fired" (3.603 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and "Empire" (6.596 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1).

CBS (6.352 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then was the silver draw with new episodes of "Survivor: Game Changers" (8.214 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2), "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (5.849 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and a second "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (4.994 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

Next up was ABC (4.345 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and repeats of "The Goldbergs" (4.138 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "Speechless" (3.620 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "Modern Family" (4.012 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) and "Black-ish" (3.639 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) followed by a new "Designated Survivor" (5.330 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3).
