ABC NEWS' 'NIGHTLINE' IS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND ADULTS 18-49 FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT WEEK

'Nightline' Posts Week-to-Week Gains in Adults 18-49 Hitting a 9-Week High in the Demo

'Nightline' Improves on the Year-Ago Week in Both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (714,000) and Adults 18-49 (184,000) for the 2ndweek in a row during the week of Aug. 15, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

"Nightline" posted week-to-week gains in Adults 18-49 (+8% - 184,000 vs. 170,000), hitting a 9-week high in the demo - since w/o 6/13/22.

For the 4th consecutive week, "Nightline" improved on the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+7% - 714,000 vs. 667,000) and Adults 18-49 (+44% - 184,000 vs. 128,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" is beating CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 7th consecutive year - since the 2015-2016 season.

This week, "Nightline" covered the lifeguard shortage at beaches; fashionistas embracing their inner Barbie world; Liz Cheney and her political fate; the sole Washington, D.C., lightning strike survivor; solo artist Muni Long; migrants caught in the middle of a Texas-New York political spat and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and his response to criticism; Mariah Carey's attempt to trademark "Queen of Christmas"; the National Geographic documentary "The Territory"; lower water levels and the federal government ordering states to cut back on water use; The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen; and a fentanyl overdose survivor on recovery.

NOTE: For the week, CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was retitled to "Late Late Show-JC - ENC," and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Seth Meyers-SM" due to being repeats. The retitled telecasts are excluded from the season averages.
