DESCRIPTION: (from FOX's press release) Twelve boxers chosen from thousands across the country will begin laying it all on the line, both in and out of the ring, in the hope of winning every fighter's ultimate dream - a professional contract with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and a title fight within the World Boxing Organization (WBO). In the first episode these hungry, young fighters - each accompanied by a loved one who provides a non-boxer's perspective - begin their quest to become THE NEXT GREAT CHAMP. They will perform a physical challenge that tests their overall body strength and pushes some of them beyond their physical limits. They will train one-on-one with De La Hoya and move into their new living arrangements, where the fireworks come quickly as the fighters discover they are all "sleeping with the enemy." Finally, two fighters will face off in an elimination bout that sends one of them home and the victor one step closer to becoming THE NEXT GREAT CHAMP on the series premiere Tuesday, Sept. 7 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. |
